New York, N.Y. — Subha V. Barry has been named Vice President, General Manager, Working Mother Media (WMM) it was announced today by Eric Zinczenko, Executive Vice President, Bonnier Corp. WMM President and Founder Carol Evans will stay on as an advisor during a three-month transition.


Working Mother Media, a division of Bonnier Corp., includes Working Mother magazine,, the Working Mother Research Institute, the National Association for Female Executives and Diversity Best Practices. It hosts over 20 events and conferences a year. Working Mother Media’s mission is to serve as a champion of culture change for career-committed mothers and progressive employers.


“Subha’s experience in multicultural marketing and as a leader in the field of diversity and inclusion, coupled with her experience as a financial services executive, make her the right choice to succeed Carol and lead Working Mother Media,” Zinczenko said. “The brand has played a critical role in the advancement of women through the power of its research, events, media platform and corporate partnerships. Barry is a seasoned executive who brings a unique perspective on business culture and talent to deliver global solutions on issues of diversity, leadership development and multicultural marketing to corporations, nonprofits and academic institutions. She joins Bonnier from SV Barry Consulting, which she launched in 2011. Additionally, Barry is an Adjunct Professor at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, where she teaches gender policy.


Previously, Barry led the diversity and inclusion programs at Freddie Mac and Merrill Lynch. She began her career at Merrill Lynch as a financial advisor before creating a multicultural business development group that helped establish Merrill Lynch as the pre-eminent wealth management firm among diverse and multicultural markets.


Barry serves on the board of Rutgers University, where she co-chairs fundraising efforts for the Gloria Steinem Chair for Media, Culture and Feminist Studies. She is also on the boards of Rice University’s Graduate School of Business and Princeton Hospital, and is chair of the Rutgers Cancer Institute’s Director’s Advisory Council. She is a senior advisor to the New York-based Center for Talent Innovation and the Asia Society’s Talent, Diversity and Inclusion Council.


A native of India, Barry holds a B.A. from Bombay University (now known as the University of Mumbai) and an M.B.A. and M.S. in accounting from Rice University. She and her husband have two children and live in Princeton, New Jersey.
