Winter Park, Fla. — Doug Evans, chairman of the board for the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA), has joined Bonnier Corp. to lead sales in the events division as director of business development, it was announced today by Tom Weber, president of Bonnier’s Events Group. This position is effective immediately.

Evans joins Bonnier Corp. from Luken Communications, a national multicast television network provider, where he served as executive vice president and chief operating officer.

In this newly created position, Evans will spearhead a progressive marketing sales strategy for Bonnier Corp’s extensive portfolio of niche events. He will develop multichannel programs for key national accounts and drive program crossover among all experiential, print and digital properties.

“Doug’s experience and expertise in special-interest media and event sales leadership are virtually unrivaled,” said Weber. “He excels at identifying and executing comprehensive programs that garner maximum results. We’re excited to see how he takes our events sales strategy to the next level.”

Prior to Luken, Evans built a venerable career in automotive, motor sports and off-road media and events with positions at Conde Nast, The Promotion Company—Family Events (now a division of Bonnier Corp.) and The Enthusiast Network, formerly Petersen Publishing.
