New York, N.Y. — For the second straight year, Saveur has won a National Magazine Award. The Bonnier title took home the top prize in the Single-Topic Issue category for its August/September The Mexico Issue. The 2013 winners were announced Thursday night at the annual awards presentation at the New York Marriott Marquis. Sponsored by the American Society of Magazine Editors (ASME), the National Magazine Awards are the preeminent awards for magazine journalism.

In addition to winning two straight years, Saveur has now won a National Magazine Award in three of the last five years and six overall. It won this same category, Single-Topic Issue, in 2009.

With many Bonnier colleagues in attendance — including CEO Dave Freygang and EVP Eric Zinczenko — James Oseland, editor-in-chief of Saveur, accepted the award in front of a crowd of more than 500.

“My goodness, what a tremendous honor it is to receive this award!” said Oseland. “It’s a fantastic validation of the blood, sweat, tears and enormous passion that go into making Saveur. And a special shout out to Bonnier for allowing us to create the kind of intelligent, envelope-pushing content that other companies probably wouldn’t allow.”

Saveur was also a finalist in two other categories: General Excellence for Lifestyle Magazines and Video for its Master Class Video Series.

Field & Stream was a finalist in the Multimedia category for “The Best Days of the Rut 2012” from its November print issue and “The F&S Rut Reporters” at fieldandstream.com and for the iPhone.

Established in 1966, the National Magazine Awards are sponsored by ASME in association with the Columbia Journalism School. Nearly 260 publications entered the National Magazine Awards this year, submitting 1,636 entries. The judges included 330 magazine editors, art directors and photography editors as well as journalism educators.
