New York, N.Y. — In his first move as the new CEO of Bonnier Corp., Dave Freygang has promoted Eric Zinczenko to Executive Vice President of Bonnier Corp. In this newly created role, as the second ranked official for Bonnier Corp., Zinczenko will be responsible for all of the company’s magazine business units. Zinczenko was previously Executive Vice President of the company’s Men’s Group.

“I want to get things done quickly — be fast and proactive. Recognizing Eric was the first step,” said Freygang, who was appointed CEO on Friday, Jan. 11. “Since 2006, every Bonnier brand Eric has had the opportunity to work on has improved. Now I am looking forward to having him help our group publishers and business leaders in expanding their businesses and achieve the results we can expect with his vision and leadership.”

“The most exciting aspect of my new responsibilities is the chance to work directly with more of my Bonnier colleagues who have inspired me over the years with their work,” said Zinczenko. “Our mission is straightforward: to continue our brand-centric model, where the focus is on redefining our capabilities as media brands and what’s possible for our audiences and client partners.”

Zinczenko joined Bonnier Corp. from Time Inc. in 2006 as part of Bonnier’s original management team. Prior to his promotion to Executive Vice President, Zinczenko was responsible for one of the company’s largest business units, the Bonnier Men’s Group, which includes seven brands and three of the country’s largest special-interest titles with Popular Science, Field & Stream and Outdoor Life. Zinczenko has been responsible for extending the brands outside the scope of a traditional media operation to a fully integrated multichannel media group with licensing, events, TV and film. He’s credited with signing a number of highly profitable strategic partnerships for his brands. In 2011, he helped the company acquire Hearst’s Cycle World.

Under Zinczenko’s leadership, his group won nine awards for integrated marketing from Media Industry News (MIN) and 13 ASME nominations for editorial excellence, including Field & Stream‘s 2009 ASME General Excellence Award, publishing’s highest honor. In 2010, the editorial excellence of the brand carried over to as the digital property was nominated for General Excellence in digital media. In 2012, Zinczenko’s marketing unit was recognized as MIN‘s Marketing Team of the Year.

Prior to joining Bonnier, Zinczenko had successful sales-management positions with Outside, The New Yorker, Bicycling and Scuba Diving. Zinczenko started his career at Rodale, becoming ad director of Bicycling at age 26. In 2008, Zinczenko was inducted into MIN‘s Sales Executive of the Year Hall of Fame for his contributions and success in publishing.
