Newport, R.I. (Jan. 6, 2016) — Sailing World is pleased to announce that Helly Hansen, a global leader in technical sailing apparel with more than 135 years of experience protecting professionals on the water, will continue as title sponsor for the brand’s elite sailing series, the NOOD Regattas. In its 28th consecutive year after beginning in 1988, the National Offshore One Design Regattas, also known as the “NOODs,” are the longest-running and most popular sailboat racing series in North America. The national regatta series kicks off with its first event in February, at the St. Petersburg Yacht Club in Florida.
More than 700 boats and thousands of sailors participated in the 2015 NOOD season. Competitors in raceboats both large and small, took to the waters around the United States to compete in the five-stop racing series for a chance to win a berth at the championship in the British Virgin Islands in October.
“Sailing is at the core of Helly Hansen’s DNA”, said Erik Burbank, CMO of Helly Hansen. “We’re excited to continue supporting and celebrating the sport through this great series. We look forward to more great sailing in 2016.”
The 2016 Helly Hansen NOOD Regattas will return to six fantastic sailing venues including:
- St. Petersburg, FL: Feb. 12-14 at St Petersburg Yacht Club
- San Diego, CA: March 18-20 at San Diego Yacht Club and Coronado Yacht Club

- Chicago, IL: June 17-19 at Chicago Yacht Club
- Marblehead, MA: July 28-31 at Boston Yacht Club
