Winter Park, Fla. ― Erika Hueneke has been promoted to editor-in-chief of Destination Weddings & Honeymoons. Hueneke has been an integral part of the DWH team for eight years, most recently serving as executive editor.

“With destination weddings becoming increasingly popular, Erika’s promotion couldn’t come at a better time,” said Shawn Bean, editorial director of Bonnier Corp.’s Active Interest Network. “A deep knowledge of the bridal industry and a longtime passion for travel make her the ideal person to lead the brand into the future.”

For the past year, Hueneke has led the day-to-day operations of DWH, charged with executing ― and continuously upgrading ― the brand’s revitalized editorial mission, launched with the January/February 2014 issue. In her new role, Hueneke will take on more big-picture responsibilities, among them spearheading print and digital content strategies, managing the DWH edit and art team, and increasing her visibility as a brand ambassador at industry events and client meetings.

“I believe in the mission of DWH — to help couples spend several days in paradise with their closest loved ones, making the most important commitment of their lives — and that ideal drives our staff,” said Hueneke. “We know firsthand the power of travel, and we’re passionate about creating a beautiful product that connects the dots for our readers. It’s an honor to lead this brand as we continue to find new ways of speaking to our audience.”
