WINTER PARK, Fla. — The Bonnier Corp. Fishing Group brands — Salt Water Sportsman, Sport Fishing and Marlin — are launching a pro-bono campaign called “Catch Me in the Keys” (#catchmeinthekeys) to promote the Oct. 1 reopening of the island chain to tourism after Hurricane Irma last month.
The team designed a Bluefin USA performance shirt with all net proceeds benefitting hurricane relief efforts in the Keys, and a representative from the brands will host a social media takeover Oct. 8-10, posting live from newly reopened and operational marinas, tackle shops, lodges and hotels to let our audiences know the Keys are back in business.
As fellow Floridians and business partners, the Bonnier Corp. team feels a responsibility to support the Florida Keys in this time of need. According to this infographic released by the Monroe County Tourist Development Council in 2015, tourism in the Keys is valued at $2.7 billion and fuels 54 percent of local jobs.
The hope is to encourage people to keep their existing reservations and continue making new ones, as those tourism dollars will be integral to the islands’ ability to quickly rebuild.
