New York, N.Y. — Bonnier Corp. has announced the promotion of Anthony M. Ruotolo to publisher of Popular Photography and American Photo. Ruotolo has been with the photography brands since 1997 and most recently served as associate publisher.

 

“Anthony’s strong relationships in the photography industry, built on trust and market knowledge, have positioned him as a leader in his field,” said Eric Zinczenko, executive vice president of Bonnier. “Since his arrival at Bonnier, Anthony has done a terrific job managing Popular Photography and American Photo to further their leadership positions in this important category.”

Ruotolo joined Bonnier Corp. in June 2009, as part of the Hachette Photo Group acquisition by Bonnier. He started at Hachette in 1997 as marketing manager of the two titles. Promoted to marketing director for the group one year later, before moving into sales in 2001 as national sales manager, he became associate publisher in 2006. Prior to publishing, Ruotolo began his career at the foreign-exchange desk at Dresdner Bank AG, and later oversaw real-estate acquisitions for Connecticut-based investment firm A.P.L.

 

His passion for photography goes back to his childhood, working in a darkroom developing and printing film from a very young age. He has been an annually elected member of the board of the Photoimaging Manufacturers and Distributors Association (PMDA) since 2005.
