Saveur Wins National Magazine Award
May 04, 2012
New York, N.Y. — Bonnier's Saveur won its fifth National Magazine Award last night, taking home the top prize in the Leisure Interests category for the feature "Italian America" in its December issue. The 2012 winners were announced at the annual awards presentation at the New York Marriott Marquis. Sponsored by the American Society of Magazine Editors (ASME), the National Magazine Awards are the preeminent awards for magazine journalism.
With 20 Bonnier colleagues in attendance, James Oseland, editor-in-chief of Saveur, accepted the award in front of a crowd of more than 600.
"Having served on a number of ASME judging panels over the last few years, I know one thing: Because of the stringency of the judging process, it really means something when you win!" said Oseland. "But it's a great feeling, and it makes me especially proud of our team, who'd worked so hard on the 'Italian America' package, especially Dave Weaver, our art director; Dana Bowen, our executive editor; and Todd Coleman, our executive food editor. They — and the whole team at Saveur — are an amazing and amazingly dedicated bunch."
The 2012 win for Saveur was its second in four years; it won in the Single Topic Issue category in 2009.
Two other Bonnier titles were finalists in this year's competition: Field & Stream and Outdoor Life.
