Flying Swaps Hangar Tales with Harrison Ford
November 14, 2012
Palm Springs, CA — Flying Editor-in-Chief Robert Goyer and actor and active pilot Harrison Ford shared the same stage, talking shop in front of a standing-room-only crowd in the thousands at the October Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) Summit in Palm Springs, California.
Part of a four-person panel, Goyer and Ford discussed ways that the industry could help encourage young people to learn to fly, along with Craig Fuller and Tom Haines, both of the AOPA. Goyer commented that one good way was for Hollywood to make more films starring Harrison Ford flying around in cool airplanes.
One of those "cool" planes was on the November cover of the magazine: the ultra-sleek $25 million Gulfstream G-280. Flying and Goyer were first to fly and photograph the clean-sheet super-midsize business jet, which can fly nonstop from New York to Paris at high-subsonic speeds.
