Bonnier’s Ty Sawyer Named Diver of the Year
April 19, 2010 The honor has gone to such luminaries as filmmaker James Cameron, Jean-Michel Cousteau, actor Lloyd Bridges and National Geographic photographer David Doubilet. Now Bonnier's own Ty Sawyer has joined the illustrious list, winning one of the most prestigious awards in the diving industry, Diver of the Year. Sawyer, currently Editorial Director of Bonnier's diving titles, has been with the company since 2002, when he joined as Editor of Sport Diver.
Sawyer was raised in England and his travels have taken him to more than 95 countries. He has a high reputation for his writing and photography, and his passion and innovation to grow the dive market. Sawyer is also a frequent guest on the Travel Channel. "I'm honored, humbled and overwhelmed at being the Diver of the Year," Sawyer said. "At times like this I feel like all the hard work has been recognized by my peers, which inspires me even more to try to exceed expectations." Sawyer will receive the Diver of the Year Medal of Excellence at the Beneath the Sea Dive Show in Secaucus, New Jersey, on March 27. |
