Bonnier’s Gregg Hano Promoted to New Head of Corporate Sales

New York, N.Y. — Bonnier Corp. CEO Terry Snow announced today the promotion of Gregg Hano to Senior Vice President of Corporate Sales & the Technology Group. In this new position, Hano will oversee the company's efforts in selling multibrand, multiplatform programs, leading a newly integrated sales and marketing force with a strong focus on forging partnerships and creating opportunities across all of Bonnier's properties in print, digital and events.

Hano, who was previously Group Publisher of Bonnier's Technology Group, will retain oversight of those brands — Popular Science, Popular Photography, American Photo and Sound + Vision.

"Gregg is recognized throughout Bonnier and the advertising industry as being a leader in driving revenue and delivering innovative advertising programs," says Snow. "He has shown particular vision with his team's digital efforts, integrating client partnerships across websites, digital magazines, apps and social media. His credibility, expertise and insight will now benefit all of our brands."

Bonnier has become an industry trailblazer in new digital platforms, with Hano's brands leading that charge. On the first day the iPad went on sale in April 2010, Bonnier launched the next generation of magazines with Popular Science+ on the App Store. Such innovation has continued with more titles and more platforms, from Google's Android devices to Barnes & Noble's Nook to Amazon's new Kindle Fire.

"This has been an extremely exciting time as a digital pioneer," Hano says. "We support those efforts with a strong, focused, effective sales and marketing operation. Our new integrated, proactive corporate sales programs will have that same foundation to serve our clients' objectives."

Hano has served as Group Publisher of Bonnier's technology titles for more than eight years. With Hano at the helm, the 139-year-old Popular Science has marked a series of financial milestones, including the most profitable year and largest issue ever, and Web revenue reaching an all-time high in 2010. In 2007 Hano oversaw the debut of the new Science Illustrated, Bonnier Corp.'s first major U.S. launch. Hano again added to his portfolio in 2009 with Bonnier's acquisition of Popular Photography, Sound + Vision and American Photography.

Prior to assuming the Group Publisher role in 2003, Hano was no stranger to Popular Science. He served as Director of Sales and Marketing for the magazine from 2001 to 2003 and was a sales representative for Popular Science from 1987 to 1992. In the interim, he was Associate Publisher of Popular Mechanics and Group Publisher of Saveur and Garden Design.
