Bonnier Promotes Bob Bauer to Publisher of Yachting
February 02, 2011 New York, N.Y. — Yachting magazine has named Bob Bauer its new publisher. Bauer has been with the Bonnier luxury watercraft title for nearly two decades, the last three as Yachting's advertising director. He replaces Ed Baker, who has been promoted to head the non-endemic sales for Bonnier's newly formed special interest group that includes the marine division.
Bauer began his career with Yachting in 1992, as the director of sports marketing, where he oversaw the management and sales for all Yachting Race Weeks and boat shows. He went on to serve as a northeast sales manager and a regional manger, before spending the past three years running Yachting's sales team. During his 26-year career in the magazine business and prior moving to Yachting, Bauer worked at several magazines, including Cruising World and Golf Illustrated. "Bob was the natural choice to lead the brand going forward," said Glenn Hughes, VP, Group Publisher of Bonnier's marine and aviation titles. "He has played a key role as advertising director over the last several years and has the respect of the sales and editorial teams, as well as the industry." Published monthly by Bonnier Corp., Yachting magazine is the pre-eminent title touching every aspect of the luxury lifestyle both on and off the water. Founded in 1907, Yachting is one of the marine industry's oldest and most respected titles, capturing the passion of the most affluent marine enthusiasts. Bonnier Corp. (www.bonniercorp.com) is one of the largest consumer-publishing groups in America and is the leading media company serving passionate, highly engaged audiences, through 50 special-interest magazines and related multimedia projects and events. Bonnier Corp. is the U.S. division of the Bonnier Group (bonnier.com), a 200-year-old family-owned media group based in Sweden with business operations in 25 countries. |

"I'm excited for the opportunity to lead this brand that I've had the pleasure to work with for the past 18 years," said Bauer. "When I began, of course, it was just a magazine, but now with the combination of the digital and print magazine, mobile, Web and events, my goal is to create a global brand that is unrivaled in the marine marketplace." Bob will report to Sally Helme, head of Bonnier's yachting and sailing titles, located in Rhode Island.
