Bonnier Launches iPad Subscriptions – Announces Multiple Titles Debuting on Device

New York, N.Y. – Bonnier Corp., one of the largest consumer-publishing groups in the U.S., today announced substantial expansions and improvements to the company's iPad publishing program. The company's Popular Science+, currently available on the iPad, will debut subscription capability in early June, making it one of the first magazines to offer subscriptions on the device. Bonnier also announced four additional titles coming to the iPad in the next two months, and committed to bringing additional magazines to the device by the end of the year.

"We've been really encouraged by the success of Popular Science+," says Sara Öhrvall, director of research and development for Bonnier. "Our audience has been clamoring for a subscription option on the iPad, so we've focused our efforts over the last few weeks on developing that upgrade."

Popular Science+, Bonnier's first offering on the iPad, has been available since the device's launch. The magazine has remained one of the top 100 paid apps for the iPad since its debut. The magazine utilizes a Bonnier proprietary digital-publishing platform called Mag+ that the company designed with London-based design firm, BERG. Yearly 12-issue subscriptions to Popular Science+ will now be available for $29.95; a six-month sub for $19.95; single issues will continue to be available for $4.99.

After being one of the first publishing companies with titles available on the iPad at its launch, Bonnier announced plans to have multiple titles available on the device by the end of the year. The rollout starts in June with two technology-focused titles, Popular Photography, the world's largest photography magazine, and Sound + Vision, the most influential and widely read consumer electronics publication. Two additional publications, TransWorld Skateboarding and Islands, will be added in August.

"The Mag+ platform will continue to evolve with the addition of new publications," says Terry Snow, CEO of Bonnier Corp. "There is great synergy among the Bonnier magazines but they each serve a unique audience."
