Bonnier Corp.’s Spa Magazine Refreshes Its Design

San Francisco, CA – Spa, the magazine of travel, beauty and healthy living, boasts a fresh new look in 2009, designed to leave readers feeling uplifted, supported, inspired and soothed. The redesign is unveiled in the Jan./Feb. issue, on sale now.

"Our goal for the redesign was not a complete overhaul, but rather a freshening up," said Victor Maze, Art Director for Spa. "We wanted to make the design more modern, reader-friendly and fun, without changing the relaxing and inspiring essence that is Spa."

With its refreshed look, Spa will be organized in a way that makes it easy for readers to find quickly the information that most interests them. Spa will also do more to uncover the bargain deals and life-changing experiences that are available in the world of travel and spa-going.

Some of Spa's new columns include: Spa Talk, a forum for reader questions and issue feedback; guides to low-season steals; DIY beauty recipes; Home; a step-by-step exercise of the month in the Fitness section; and Mind & Spirit.

"Reading an issue is like visiting a spa," said Julie Sinclair, Editor-in-Chief of Spa. "By the time you're done, you will feel more relaxed, your senses will have been soothed by the beautiful images and graphics, and you will leave armed with knowledge that you can use every day to stay balanced."

The "freshened" look of Spa includes:
• A new logo with a bold yet friendly font.
• The brightening of the color palette, inspired by the seven chakras, each of which is represented by a vibrant color from the rainbow.
• A new set of fonts that is both contemporary and sophisticated.
• Stories presented in fun new ways, using charts, lists and other formats to make information more accessible to readers.
• More entry points on the page, in the form of type treatments and additional images.
