Adweek, Mediaweek Select Bonnier’s Saveur for Annual Hot List

New York, N.Y. — More honors for Bonnier Corp.'s Saveur, this time in Adweek and Mediaweek's annual Hot List recognizing those magazines with a track record of standout advertising revenue and page growth. The list, appearing in today's issue of the trade publications, is the latest accolade for the epicurean title, which has had soaring ad pages over the last year. The hot streak has continued — Saveur is up 23 percent for its May issue.

Editors at Adweek and Mediaweek wrote this about Saveur:

Post Gourmet, Saveur has carved out its slice of the high end of epicurean category. It's the only established food title to grow pages in '10 (+12.7 percent), with help from new nonendemics (Lufthansa, BMW, Apple). Readers pay top dollar for "approachable but still epicurean" book ($2 per subscriber issue), while Saveur cuts back on less desirable verified, digital subs in '10. Beyond print, EIC James Oseland raises profile as Bravo's Top Chef Masters judge.

"Our creative customer-oriented team puts our clients' needs first and it has paid off," said Merri Lee Kingsly, publisher of Saveur. "We worked hard to create custom programs that fit our clients' direct strategies and objectives rather than driving them into overcommercialized big programs that don't allow them to connect with their ideal consumer."

Editors at Adweek and Mediaweek expanded the criteria for the Hot List lists (Saveur was listed in the 10 Under 60 list for magazines with under $60 million in revenue) with greater focus on other measures of success this year, including newsstand sales, strength of engagement, smart brand extensions, and ability to find new ways to engage consumers and charge them for content.

This is the second honor for Saveur from a major trade publication. Just in October, Advertising Age included Saveur in the Five More Smart Movers list in its annual A-List issue, saying "not every honor on our A-List belongs to magazines reinventing the form. Saveur is one to watch precisely because of its laser focus on great print editorial, a focus that's been rewarded with acclaim."

Saveur becomes the first Bonnier title to be honored by both Adweek and Advertising Age for the same period.

Saveur is published nine times a year by Bonnier Corp. (www.bonniercorp.com), one of the largest consumer-publishing groups in the U.S. and the leading media company serving passionate, highly engaged audiences through magazines, events, digital media and leading-edge products.
