Caribbean Travel + Life Readers Name the 2011 Best of the Caribbean
December 15, 2010 Winter Park, Fla. — With more than 250,000 individual votes cast, Bonnier Corp.'s Caribbean Travel + Life revealed today its readers' favorites in its annual Best of the Caribbean special issue (Jan./Feb. 2010), on newsstands Dec. 21. All 24 award recipients, including the biggest winner, Puerto Rico, will be featured in the magazine and will be honored at the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association's Caribbean Marketplace on Jan. 16-18, 2011, in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Puerto Rico edged out Jamaica and St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands, for the top-destination prize. Puerto Rico also picked up several honorable mentions in multiple categories, including Best Shopping; Best Adventure Destination; and Best Natural Attraction or Park. In the lodging categories, Puerto Rico also had honorable mentions for Best Small Hotel; Best Midsize Hotel; Best Resort Spa; Best Bang for the Buck Resort; and Best Mega-resort.
Caribbean Travel + Life publisher Guy Britton says, "The response for the 2011 awards was overwhelming, with more than 17,000 registered voters." For the first time, the awards will be presented at CHTA's Caribbean Marketplace, which is widely regarded as the most important marketing event in the region.
