Caribbean Travel + Life Names David K. Gibson New Editor-in-Chief
January 05, 2010 Bonnier Corp. has announced David K. Gibson is the new editor-in-chief of Caribbean Travel + Life. Gibson has been with the company since 2007, when he came on board as launch editor of Bonnier's luxury mountain resort title, SNOW. Gibson says he will strive to connect the magazine's dedicated readers to the destinations they love: "Every issue will be like a great vacation ― full of surprises, romance and adventure ― with the excitement of new places and the comfort of old favorites."He'll also work to ensure that Caribbean Travel + Life ― the brand, the resource and the community ― delivers its information to readers when and where they want it. "I am a big believer in magazines and the power of print, but I realize that the Internet can be a more direct and timely source of information," he says. On the art side, Gibson wants to bring a new emphasis to Caribbean Travel + Life's photography, with a cleaner look and a freshly organized design. "Every issue should have the feel of a photo album of the perfect trip." "With the addition of David to the Caribbean Travel + Life team, we are in an even better position to bring the Caribbean region to life for our readers, online and television viewers. It is another step forward for the brand," says Sue Gilman, Group Publisher of Bonnier's Travel Group. Prior to joining Bonnier, Gibson spent six years at Aspen Magazine working in several positions, including a stint as editor. He also edited Chile Pepper, a food title centered on spicy food, and published several humorous short stories. Three were included in HarperCollins' May Contain Nuts: A Very Loose Canon of American Humor. In addition to his new position as editor-in-chief of Caribbean Travel + Life, he will also remain the editor of SNOW. Dave Herndon, Caribbean Travel + Life's editor for the past three years, moves to editor-at-large for the Travel Group. Now Islands, Florida Travel + Life and Destination Weddings & Honeymoons will share with CTL Herndon's extensive knowledge and expertise in travel writing. |
